Manoc-Manoc Beach is one of the lesser known beaches in Boracay island, but it definitely has a lot to present to the eager tourist. Located at the southernmost end of the island of Boracay, this beach has lovely white sands with great water for swimming and snorkeling, and a beautiful view of Caticlan, Aklan. Visitors should come with a camera to capture the picturesque view of the hills and mountains. The view also promises beautiful sunsets and rainbows. The beach is busy with a long line of outrigger boats from the main island of Caticlan, Aklan, docking to unload provisions and supplies for resorts and shops in the island. Local vendors have also found their way along the shoreline selling water, snacks and fruit juice to tourists on a sightseeing trip or merely relaxing upon the sands.
Boracay Island is located in Aklan province in the Visayas group of islands in the Philippines. The Philippine archipelago has 7,107 islands and Boracay has the best beaches not only in the country but all over the world. The fastest route to Boracay is a plane ride from Manila to the province of Caticlan, Aklan. The Caticlan airport is a stone’s throw away from the Jetty Port where one gets a boat ride to the island of Boracay. The boat ride only costs Php20 (USD0.45) but non-island residents have to pay terminal and environmental fees coming in.
The most popular beach and tourist destination in Boracay is still White Beach. It is a 4-km white sand beach that is full of fun and activities. There is just so much going on at White Beach – snorkeling, diving, swimming, reef walking, banana boat ride, drinking and dining – but Boracay visitors should not miss checking out Manoc-Manoc Beach, too.
It is easy to get to it from White Beach. Tourists could just walk southwards towards Caticlan until they reach a residential area along the shoreline of Manoc-Manoc. Coming from any point inland, a tourist can ride a bicycle or jog all the way to the end of the island’s big road. In fact, everybody knows where to find Manoc-Manoc since it is just where they first docked as they reached Boracay from Caticlan.
There are a number of good resorts in Manoc-Manoc Beach and the most popular is the Boracay Beach and Yacht Club. It has space and facilities for beach volleyball, basketball, table tennis, Frisbee, wind surfing and fishing, and also boasts an exclusive restaurant with a karaoke and bar lounge.
Another attraction in the area is scuba diving. The sea off Manoc-Manoc is home to brilliantly colored reefs and different marine life species. With the help of the local government, residents around this area have successfully preserved this region of the island for decades. The beach is near a local village, which is actually one of the very first settlements in Boracay.
Manoc-Manoc Beach is receiving more attention now from both local and foreign tourists and is gradually seeing that attention further grow. More shops, resorts, bars and restaurants are being put up along the beach as it has seen a rise in the number of visitors in the past years and is being groomed to become another of Boracay’s main tourist beaches. Some of its restaurants are already known to serve the best Euro-Asian cuisine in Boracay.
