The White Beach, or “Long Beach” as locals more commonly call it, is Boracay’s main draw. Almost always, “Boracay” is synonymous to this world-famous site. The 4-km-long white sand beach straddles the fence between the unspoiled beauty of nature and the comforts of world-class accommodation and facilities: sand, sea, and sun on one side and 5-star hotels, world-class restaurants and cheap local bazaars and shops on another.

Stepping for the first time on the fine white sand that is uniquely Boracay’s could get you all excited. Here are some ways to fully enjoy this beautiful tropical white beach.

First, stroll along the shoreline. Boracay has a lot to offer, but don’t get distracted just yet. Spend half a day at least just letting your feet enjoy and sink into the fine sand as your eyes feast on the surrounding view. Stroll along the white powdery sand and see how it seamlessly transitions into the crystal blue ocean, which at the horizon blends perfectly with a dreamy blue sky. At the tip of the white shoreline, there is almost always a rainbow touching the faraway jungle-mountains of Aklan.

After walking for just a few minutes from your hotel, it is almost certain that a local boatman will offer you a variety of fun ocean and island activities, such as island-hopping, inland tours, snorkeling, reef walking, horseback riding, and kayaking, just to mention a few. Try one or two, but only after you have spent half a day just strolling, and the rest of the day doing the two other following suggestions.

Second, go for a swim. Boracay water is always just right throughout the year. Before jumping straight into the many water sports available, take a light and fun dip with friends or family. Swim around Willy’s Rock, that oddly shaped volcanic formation at Station 1, where the water is cooler and the view is even more magnificent. Pass this idyllic time by floating on your back and staring at the blue sky and passing cloud formations.

Third, swing. Party, meet new people, have fun, shop, and simply feel alive. What makes White Beach unique from other world-famous beaches is the array of shops and establishments lined up about 200 meters from the shoreline. First-class beach-front hotels, such as the Regency and Red Coconut Beach Resort, light up the shoreline with live bands, fire dances, booming music, and delicious buffets. There are also local shops and bazaars that sell very affordable souvenir items.

Tourists spend hours just walking from station to station, checking out the shops, taste-testing an array of drinks and barbecued sea foods, and just being a part of the sea of attractive people walking aimlessly. Boracay is always visited by local Philippine artists and movie stars, especially during the peak months of September to June.

White Beach is divided into three boat stations, Stations 1, 2 and 3. They are still called stations, although boats are not allowed to dock any longer along the beach’s coastline. Most of the partying is at Station 2, where the famous D’ Mall and Talipapa market are located.
