Exploring Lapuz-Lapuz Beach Boracay

Boracay island in Aklan, Philippines is one of the most popular island-resorts in the world. Scattered around the island are 13 magnificent white sand beaches and one of them is the Lapuz-Lapuz Beach, a private Boracay white sand beach.

Although it is a private beach, it is very accessible by anyone on board a motorbike, tricycle or bicycle. There is also a way around it by sea on board an outrigger boat or a paraw sailboat, but taking this route depends on the weather.

This beach and the nearby Ilig-iligan Beach are among the popular stops for a number of outrigger boats on an island-hopping trip around Boracay, although travelers on the trip are not permitted to stay long or go for a swim at Lapuz-Lapuz Beach owing to its exclusivity and restrictions. Those without the privilege will have to make do with one of Boracay’s other lovely beaches. The other 12 Boracay beaches are Ilig Iligan Beach, Diniwid Beach, Tulubhan Beach, Punta Bunga Beach, Balingai Beach, Bulabog Beach, Manoc Manoc Beach, Lagutan Beach, Tambisaan Beach, Cagban Beach, Puka Beach or Yapak Beach, and the world-famous White Beach.

The 4-km long White Beach is the star of the show. Majority of the 600,000 foreign tourists that visit Boracay every year come primarily for White Beach and its many attractions – pristine white sand, crystal blue water, the enigmatic Willy’s Rock, exciting shops and restaurants at D’Mall, flea market at D’Talipapa and the row of party places, restaurants, and local souvenir shops. It is a snorkelers’, divers’, swimmers’, travelers’, island hoppers’, nature lovers’ and photographers’ paradise. Without taking away from its excellence as a tourist spot, however, there are still some things to be found on the other beaches that White Beach cannot offer. Not least of these would be a measure of peace and quiet amidst the hubbub of tourists and partygoers, which can only be found in one of the less activity-riddled beaches.

While White Beach will likely remain the first stop for Boracay tourists, Lapuz-Lapuz Beach should be considered a must-see, if only for a drive-by as part of an island-hopping trip.
