One of the most beautiful beaches in the world is Boracay, located in Aklan, Philippines. Besides snorkeling and diving, its picturesque landscapes, crystal clear water and pristine and powdery white sand beaches, Boracay is a perfect spot for boating and other water sports.
One of the cheapest and most common forms of attraction in Boracay is boating. Anyone can hire a local boatman for a ride around Boracay and through nearby islands. This is called island hopping on a paraw sailboat. Simply sit a while or stroll along Boracay’s White Beach, the island’s main beach, and for sure a local boatman will offer you his services. The rent is about P500 or USD11 for an hour-long trip.
A paraw boat is a sailboat with outriggers to keep the boat from capsizing.
For the true water enthusiast or adventurist, there is a variety of water sports available such as kayaking, jet-ski, kite surfing, kite boarding, skim boarding, and wind surfing.
The calm Boracay water is perfect for kayaking and makes it suitable for beginners to learn the sport. The best months for this idyllic sport are from July to November. On a kayak, tourists can enjoy a different view of the white beach and the island’s rocky coasts. An experienced kayaker can paddle along the entire island within a day.
A number of establishments along White Beach offer kayaks for rent on an hourly or daily basis. Single kayaks cost about P300 (USD6.80) per hour or P1500 (USD$34) per day. Double kayaks are a tad more expensive.
Who goes to a world-famous beach without jet-skiing? Docked 2 kilometers away at the northern side of the island, jet skis are rented out for about P600 (USD13.60) to P1000 (USD22) for a 30-minute fun of roaring through ocean water or P1200 (USD27) to P2000 (USD44) for an hour.
Parasailing is another popular water sport. It is difficult to imagine the blue Boracay sky without one or two parasails cutting across. Parasailing, as well as windsurfing, kite surfing and kite boarding are best enjoyed during the monsoon months of December to February.
All rentals provide competent instructors and guides as part of the package. Rentals and renting stations are easy to spot along White Beach since the instructors often show off their skills to entice tourists to the sport.
Water skiing and skim boarding are not big in the Philippines but they are quickly catching on in Boracay.
Boracay is the most popular beach in the Philippines and one of the best in the world. There are just so many goings-on here that the level of enjoyment and engagement is difficult to match. The beach and sand offer a kind of relaxation that only a tropical paradise can provide, while the people and facilities guarantee fun and party. The main activities are boating and other water sports such as waterskiing, glass bottom boat, island hopping, marine walking or reef walking, and banana boat ride, the idea of which is to tip off all passengers in the middle of the ocean.
